Equipment

  • 1 9-inch round cake pan greased and floured
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 1 mixing bowl large

Ingredients

Dessert Base

  • 24 graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup blackberry jam

Blackberry Layer

  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Creamy Base

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Toppings

  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts
  • Mint leaves
  • Chocolate shavings

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. Simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes until the berries break down and thicken. Set aside to cool.
  • In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Spread a thin layer of the creamy mixture at the bottom of a 9-inch pan. Place a layer of graham crackers on top, followed by a layer of blackberry sauce and more cream. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of cream.
  • Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the layers to set and flavors to meld.
  • Slice the dessert into 8 pieces and serve chilled. Garnish with mint leaves or chocolate shavings if desired.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
