Equipment

  • 1 large skillet with lid
  • 1 wooden spoon

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup pickles chopped
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp ketchup

Instructions

Preparation

  • Dice the onion and mince the garlic. Grate the cheddar cheese if not pre-shredded.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent, then add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Add ground beef, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in orzo pasta and beef broth. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until orzo is tender and broth is mostly absorbed.
  • Reduce heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined with the beef and orzo.

Serving

  • Serve hot, garnished with additional cheese if desired. Pair with a side salad or bread.

Storage

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the skillet over low heat, adding a splash of broth if necessary to loosen the pasta.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use freshly grated cheddar cheese for the best melt and flavor. Ingredient Substitutions: Use ground turkey instead of beef for a leaner option. How to Serve: Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a garden salad. Storage & Freshness: Best consumed within three days; reheat gently. Make-Ahead Tips: Prepare all ingredients in advance and store separately until ready to cook.
