Equipment

  • 1 skillet non-stick
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 cutting board

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup salsa

Instructions

Preparation

  • Place a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Allow it to heat up for about 1-2 minutes before adding the ground beef.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a wooden spoon to break apart the meat as it cooks. Stir occasionally until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  • Stir in the chopped onions. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.
  • Add the taco seasoning to the beef mixture. Pour in a small splash of water (about 2 tablespoons) to help mix the seasoning evenly. Stir well and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  • In a dry skillet or microwave, gently warm the tortillas until they are soft and pliable, about 30 seconds each side.

Assembling

  • Place a tortilla on a plate. Add a generous scoop of the beef mixture in the center. Top with shredded cheddar cheese, allowing it to melt slightly from the heat of the beef.
  • Layer on your preferred toppings: diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, a dollop of sour cream, and a spoonful of salsa. Fold the tortilla over the filling to form the taco.

Serving

  • Serve the tacos hot, garnished with extra toppings if desired. Enjoy them with a side of refried beans or Mexican rice.

Storage

  • Wrap any leftover tacos tightly in aluminum foil and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F for 10 minutes or until warmed through.
