Equipment

  • 1 large skillet with lid
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 1 Measuring cup

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds. Add orzo and toast for a minute, stirring constantly. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook uncovered for 8-10 minutes until orzo is tender.
  • Return chicken to the skillet. Stir in heavy cream and parmesan cheese, mixing until cheese is melted and sauce is creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve hot.

Storage

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop, adding a splash of cream or broth if needed.
