  • 1 colander
  • 1 mandoline slicer optional, for even slices

Ingredients

Salad Ingredients

  • 2 large cucumbers thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped

Dressing Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash the cucumbers thoroughly. If using regular cucumbers, peel them to remove the tough skin. Slice them thinly using a mandoline slicer for consistent thickness.
  • Place the cucumber slices in a colander. Sprinkle lightly with salt to draw out excess moisture. Let them drain for about 10 minutes, then pat dry with paper towels.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream, fresh dill, white vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  • Add the cucumber slices to the bowl with the dressing. Toss gently to ensure all slices are evenly coated with the creamy mixture.
  • Transfer the salad to a serving dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Serve the salad chilled. Garnish with additional fresh dill or a sprinkle of black pepper if desired.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Stir before serving to redistribute the dressing.
  • Prepare the cucumbers and dressing separately. Combine them on the day you plan to serve to ensure the cucumbers remain crisp.
