Equipment

  • 1 large saucepan for boiling orzo
  • 1 wooden spoon for stirring
  • 1 strainer for draining orzo

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups orzo pasta
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Seasonings

  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and tools before starting. Ensure garlic is minced and parmesan is grated.
  • In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  • Add orzo to the saucepan and stir to coat with the olive oil and garlic. Cook for about 2 minutes until the orzo is lightly toasted.
  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
  • Stir in grated parmesan cheese until melted and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with additional parmesan or fresh herbs if desired. Serve warm.
  • Allow leftovers to cool before storing in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, add a splash of broth to prevent dryness and warm over low heat on the stovetop.
