Ingredients
  

Casserole

  • 1 loaf challah or brioche bread cut into cubes
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Topping

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Set aside.
  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half the bread cubes. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the bread. Top with remaining bread cubes.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and cinnamon. Pour over the bread and cream cheese layers.
  • Cover the dish with foil and refrigerate overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Combine melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the casserole.
  • Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  • Cut into slices and serve warm. Optionally, drizzle with maple syrup or honey.
