Equipment

  • 1 large skillet
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 knife for chopping toppings

Ingredients

Taco Meat

  • 1 lb ground beef 80% lean
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced

Taco Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking up with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the taco seasoning and tomato sauce. Stir well to combine. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assemble Tacos

  • While the meat simmers, prepare your toppings. Chop lettuce and tomatoes, and shred the cheese if not pre-shredded.
  • In each taco shell, add a generous spoonful of the taco meat. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and a dollop of sour cream.

Serving

  • Serve the tacos immediately while the meat is hot and the toppings are fresh.

Storage

  • Store any leftover taco meat in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
