  • 1 baking sheet lined with parchment paper

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

French Onion Sauce

  • 2 large onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined. Form into uniform meatballs.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add sliced onions. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized, about 15 minutes. Add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Serving

  • Return meatballs to the skillet. Sprinkle with Gruyere cheese and thyme. Cover and simmer until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. Serve warm.
