Equipment

  • 1 trifle dish clear glass preferred
  • 1 mixing bowl large
  • 1 electric mixer

Ingredients

Berries

  • 2 cups strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup raspberries

Cream Layer

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Cake Layer

  • 1 pound cake or angel food cake cubed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries thoroughly under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels. Hull and slice the strawberries, then set all berries aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to whip the cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
  • Begin by placing a layer of cubed cake at the bottom of your trifle dish. Add a layer of whipped cream, followed by a layer of mixed berries. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, ending with a layer of berries on top.
  • Once assembled, cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. This allows the flavors to meld and the cake to absorb the berry juices.

Serving

  • Before serving, optionally garnish with additional fresh berries or a sprig of mint for a decorative touch. Scoop into bowls and enjoy.

Storage

  • Any leftovers can be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. The cake may become softer over time, but the flavors will continue to develop.

Notes
